DHL: World Map Pitch

The brief was simple. DHL needed a cool map thing because FedEx had a cool map thing. That map could be anything at all but they needed it and it needed to be a map. We came up with three concepts. Two of which i designed (featured here), the other one i helped hone but isn’t picture. The two concepts picture are called “Explore the World of DHL” and “A Day of DHL”. The first concept was designed to help surface information about DHL’s services. Tell stories about how they make deliveries around the world easy. It let the user ask a question and would display it on a 3d globe. The user also had the option to simply explore the globe and click on hot spots.

The second concept was a little more straight forward. Literally take a day of DHL. Everything they do, every place they go and everything they deliver. Record it for 24 hours. Let the user explore the data visualize on the globe. Let them fast forward through time and filter by industry. Let them zoom in and see how many boats they have in the water or scooters they have in Thailand. All while this plays out surfacing specific case studies through any of these filters. Allowing the user to find the deeper stories that DHL wanted to tell.
